AODA Statement of commitment to accessibility

 

Mitch Insurance, operated by Mitchell & Whale Insurance Brokers Ltd is committed to providing a barrier-free environment for all stakeholders, including our customers, employees, job applicants, suppliers, and any visitors who may enter our premises, access our information, or use our services. As an organization, we respect and uphold the requirements set forth under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and its associated regulations. Mitch understands that we have a responsibility for ensuring a safe, dignified, and welcoming environment for everyone. We are committed to ensuring our organization’s compliance to the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (the IASR) and incorporating them into our policies, procedures, equipment requirements, training, and best practices. We will review these policies and practices regularly and as organizational changes occur. In addition, we will strive to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in a timely and effective manner.

Providing an accessible and barrier-free environment is a shared effort, and we are committed as an organization to working with the necessary parties to make accessibility for all a reality.

 

Employment

With Respect to employment, and in accordance with IASR, Mitch has implemented a process for responding to request for individual accommodations, where suitable and necessary.

 

Training

We are dedicated to meeting the needs of people with disabilities. We believe in integration and inclusion, and are committed to training employees in Ontario’s accessibility laws, as it relates to their specific roles. Mitch follows the five (5) standards of the IASR to prevent and remove barriers for people with disabilities. If it is not possible and practical to do so, we will provide an explanation upon request.

 

Information and communications

We will communicate with people with disabilities in a manner consistent with our core values of exceeding expectations and delivering the ‘wow’, and that takes into account their disabilities. Mitch is committed to making information accessible to people with disabilities, in accordance with the IASR with respect to Information & Communications.

Mitch is in the process of updating our websites to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 website requirements. As we finalize this process, some requirements may not yet be implemented. Mitch is actively working towards having our website—with its increased accessibility—ready for access shortly.
