How much is pet insurance?

Plans start as low as $100 annually and on average cost about $900 a year for dogs and $450 for cats if you choose the most comprehensive package. The exact price depends on the breed of the pet and their age when you begin coverage. Once you’re enrolled, your premiums will stay the same for the duration of your policy, regardless of how old your pet is or how many times you make a claim. Accident and illness coverage

Pets can suffer from illness as they age. When a pet’s condition requires expensive treatments, it can leave you facing a tough decision. With this, most procedures, therapies and tests are covered, leading to better outcomes for you and your pet.

Flex care coverage

An optional add-on to accident and illness coverage, this offers the most comprehensive protection and covers routine care and treatments like vaccinations, deworming, spaying/neutering, flea prevention, nail trimming, pre-existing conditions and more.

Choose your share

All pet insurance plans include an annual deductible and a co-pay every time you make a claim. You can choose 10 – 30% as your co-pay, and a deductible of $100 – $300 for the year. Your premium will reflect the level of coverage you choose.

Good to know: Common questions about pet insurance

Currently, our pet insurance plans only offer coverage for dogs and cats.

Yes, it does. When you apply, you will be required to submit the results of a veterinary examination no older than 12 months.

Although some pre-existing conditions may be covered under our Flex Care plan, the answer is generally no. If your pet has been injured or diagnosed with a health condition when coverage begins, that condition will likely be excluded from your coverage. All exclusions will be stated clearly in your policy.

That’s why it’s a good idea to start your pet’s coverage early. Thanks to our lifetime guarantee, your policy cannot be cancelled and new exclusions cannot be added as long as you continue to pay your premiums, for the life of your pet.

Routine veterinary care can average over $1,500 a year even for a healthy cat or dog. A dog that swallows a plastic toy or a cat that gets hit by a car can both require more than $4,000 in treatment.

All plans cover up to $1,000 for euthanasia and cremation or burial. There is no deductible for this benefit.
