Frequently asked questions about getting insurance quotes:
How many quotes can you get me for a particular type of insurance?
For some types of coverage like standard auto and home insurance, we can get you dozens of different quotes. For other more specialized coverages like high-risk auto or classic car insurance, there are fewer insurance companies that offer the specific coverage, so we have fewer options for you. We have more options than most brokers in Ontario, and we’re always working hard to add more for you.
How many insurance companies do other brokers work with?
That’s a great question. Most of them won’t tell you, and that usually means they don’t work with many. Brokers have to negotiate contracts with each insurance company, and it’s hard work to manage those relationships. Some brokers only work with 5 or 6 different companies, meaning they may only have one option for a particular type of insurance. We work with more than 70 and we’re always adding more, so you have many options.
Why is it important to get lots of different quotes?
Each insurance company has its own variations on the coverage they offer, and their own pricing formulas for different types of customers. Getting quotes from several insurers means it’s more likely you’ll find the best rate and combination of coverage for your needs.
How accurate are your quotes?
Any insurance quote is only as accurate as the information that goes into it. We work very hard to offer accurate quotes by asking you all the right questions and double-checking your answers. You’ll get the most accurate quotes by calling one of our brokers during business hours.
Regardless, sometimes the insurance company can change the price slightly once we send all your information to them to set up your policy. It’s quite rare, but it does happen. We’ll be upfront with you if it does and do our best to explain any discrepancy.
For online quotes, we like to think that ours are more accurate than most other insurance comparison websites, but it’s harder to make sure that the information is complete and accurate, so online quotes (for all insurance comparison websites) are not always accurate. The online quote is meant to give you a rough idea of the price, and if you want to go ahead with a policy, we’ll confirm everything with you over the phone.
